I put no-longer-needed glaze test tiles on my 'FREE STUFF'
shelf, along with used cones and fired 'dirt dauber houses'
(dirt daubers are wasp-like creatures that lay their eggs in
chambers they make from bits of clay and sand).
I like having the test tiles on view because it gives visitors
to the shop some idea of the work involved in creating and
modifying new glazes and colors.
There is one down side, since I started to extrude my test
tiles and designed a prominent 'lip' on both sides of the tiles
to catch glaze runs; I have to regularly listen to people tell
me that I should sell the test tiles as 'card holders', as they
stand up a card between the tile and the up-turned lip.
