Nikki,

First a note of possible interest to others: When reviewing
Harbor freight for you I came across several new models
including a combination AIR COMPRESSOR & GUN for
$100.00. We have a compressor & I am perfectly content
with our guns, but this has three possibly significant implications:

1. From my now 3 yr old search, having gun & compressor
would likely mean "TRUE HVLP" which seems to imply
superior quality (at least in the wood finish world....)

2. Again from what was available 3 yrs ago this would seem
to be a very significant price break thru

3. For people without compressors...... this could be a great
chance to do something at what seems like a low cost.

Note: I haven't actually seen or used this gun so I can't possibly
comment on the quality.

Checking your list & checking it twice. I have reviewed
HF site and recognize new part number 43430-2VGA
as the number of the guns we have used in our studio.
They do not rust. Have been used much longer than
previous guns which cost 2-3X as much. Repair kits
can be more expensive for some models. The current
price is 64.99 and this includes a pressure regulator.

There is a smaller gun at 49.xx. Your number does not
seem to come up (had problems tonight......)

One more note: I took to washing gun with plenty of water
at the end of each use. Keep forcing water in the top until
if flows out the nozzle freely (with trigger pulled) this was
all I generally had to do. If it "sticks: while you are using
you might want to thin glaze BUT to get restarted just put
finger over the nozzle then let off - it will back up, then
go - hopefully you will have your cap on. Of course you
will want to strain glaze..... 200 mesh should do 'ya.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, George, for pointing out a new possible piece of equipment.

About cleaning those Harbor Freight guns, I found that just water
wasn't enough. I'd always get specks of the previous in subsequent
glaze coats unless I unscrewed that big wing-nut end and then used
the enclosed wrench to remove the brass spray nozzle, and only then
do the super-rinse-down. Heavy glazes build up in there and always
caused me problems unless I cleaned them as described.
