many years ago i went to the hospital to visit
my ailing father in law.. in the next bed was
an old geezer. really not very sick...chatted
all the time.

i brought my father in law a plant in a pot
that i had made. my father in law mentioned
to the guy in the next bed that i made the pot,
and was a potter.

he said.
`HEY, YOU GOTTA KLINE, I'VE SEEN KLINES.
USED TO WORK FOR THE GAS COMPANY...MAN,
I KNOW KLINES`.

i said. `yes, i have a kiln` (pronounced kill).

he said.
`IF YOU EVER NEED HELP WITH YOUR KLINE, GIVE
ME A CALL.`

`i did not call him.`

Down south here in Canada (yes, I'm south of you Mel here in SW Ontario) we
polite Canadians use all the letters in the word "kiln". I've heard it
called "kill" by some from your country. Shocked me as I don't kill my
pots, I fire 'em

Why in the world is it that when you purposely say it
right and then go on to make up statements or
questions that use the word kiln.. Why on earth don't
they get it ??

I had one guy, I thought he was the guy to hook up my
kiln, then all the sudden he said "when would you like
to set up to work on the Kenel-mab" I nearly ran, but
realized I was in my own house... So I stood there
trying to finish and get him out with out being rude,
all along thinking of Homer Simson...

Kiln is pronounced as it is spelled. Kiln with an N at the end. Not a M
as some have pronounced it. Mike Gordon with an N at the end but most
just call me Gordo
