At the nurseries lately, I've been seeing alot of wood fired terracotta from
Thailand. They seem to be brought up to temperature rather nicely. Porous,
yet very hard. Even had some nice flashing.
Does any one have any experience with low fire, or earthen-ware wood firing,
aside from pit firing or raku?

Eric,
We fired a "horno arabesque" in my low temp. workshop in Spain a few
years ago. The kiln 1 cubic meter was a small imitation od the three
story kilns in the potteries in the neighborhood of Agost.
The firing was 32 hours with the last 12 hours more intense stoking. We
took shifts. Very nice results.Different from eletric appearance but not
like high fire wood flashing.
