fire

Dear John Baymore, You say

<late 60's. Best thing I ever did. Stated a long "love affair" with wood =
firing.... and taught me a lot about ceramics in general>>

Great words!!

Did the same thing round about the same time. Started over again in the =
seventies. Built to fire oil. Not much wood in a desert. Stripped the =
first one down and increased the capacity. Stripped it down again to try =
a Catenary arch. Its stripped down now, Waiting for a rebuild rebuilt. =
Built a small gas kiln. Built a small salt glaze test kiln. built a big =
salt glaze kiln.

Buy a heap of bricks, second hand if you can find them or go the factory =
and sweet talk some seconds. Discover the nature of fire for yourself. =
Get someone else to build for you, bespoke or ready made, and you miss =
half of the pleasure and most of the fun.
