Hi Snail

In this particular corner of the world I've never heard kil, usually kiln, with only one exception. Some years ago at evening classes we had a tutor who said kilm. But, he talked quite fast, gabbled everything and ran words together a lot. So I think it was not so much the "wrong" pronunciation, more like when things are said quickly and sound almost right, frinstance hambag for handbag and foopball for football.

Jenny Lewis
in London
which the ancient Romans called Londinium
just thought I'd mention that

All, Kilin was not at all uncommon in Eastern Massachusetts
aas I recall. Not only used to refer to pot'try. Between
Marblehead,(Mahblehed) and Salum,Ma. are the remains of the Old Lead Mill.
Kilin,as it was described by older men in Marblehead."Bisketti", is not
uncommon among children. The common salt water perch goes by several names,
all along the Atlantic coast. And a Lobster is a Loba-stah.Come to think on
it,I hev shahds of pot'ry frum an old kilin b'hind Craig Abbott's house,
next ta, Strauss's Leather, on N'oth street, haf way b'tween Salum and Danvuz.
