raku confusion/

I was under the impression that Raku was a family name. That its link to the
process we use originated from an industrial technique introduced by this family to
quicken the cooling cycle of roof tiles, i.e. leaving the hot tiles out in the air
to cool.
I doubt any Japanese tile makers were mixing up copper carb and frit 3110 and then
running around looking for really really dry sawdust. That came later, in Canada.
Where most ground breaking discoveries originate.
