Dai you were right, ...Painting is much harder; maybe not to learn but =
to do....
I am a full time fine artist. My main interests are painting and =
pottery....I got my first set of acrylics at age 12....When I found =
pottery making it was like a load off my back...When you sit at the =
wheel with a lump of clay and spin the wheel and touch the clay you have =
done something....You have broke the ice....dived in with both =
feet....You go somewhere from there and ....VOILA.....kickass art!!!!
Now try a painting......Blank canvas staring at you ....Soon you =
hear it laugh at you....It says, "Why paint if you can't best your last =
effort?".....It asks?."Well?"......"What you gonna paint mister art =
genius?"
In painting you must have some semblance of a motiff....Pots help you =
along, give you ideas, and even often try to tell you when to stop....I =
have never signed a painting while it was in my possession...There is =
always one more layer that could work, always a different shade =
needed....
Some people eat clay....Eating paint will kill you
Potting makes you happy....painting makes me pull out my hair and =
sometimes I have to cut off my ear....I hate it when that happens.

Dear Antimater,
You wrote "Potting makes you happy....painting makes me pull out my hair and

You sure had me worried when you talked about cutting -- glad it was your
ear and not your snakes or other body parts.
