pieces slumping in glaze firing

I have been trying to make these napkin holders that have two hands
coming straight out of a base to act as two hands holding the napkins
between them. I dried them with a foam between them and kept them
pretty straight. After the bisque firing they leaned in a little but
still ok. After the glaze firing (cone 6 using standard brooklyn red
clay), the hands totally leaned into each other making it impossible to
use as napkin holder. Is there any way in the glaze firing to keep them
straight up? I am also wondering as I try to make large flat sushi
plates 18inches by 8 in wide on four legs how will I keep the ends from
slumping down in glaze firing since I can't use clay supports on the
glazed areas? Thanks for any advise.

Red Clay might be for ^5 Did you check the maximum recommended cone?
