Hi Ron -

Thanks for the reply. Thanks to what I have learned from you and others on
Clayart I thought that was what I should do: add epk in increments to
"stiffen up " the glaze. Just thought I would check with the experts first.
Will adding epk encourage crazing? This glaze has passed all the freeze/boil
tests on B-mix

When you say recalculate to total 100, now you've lost me. Am I decreasing
something else?

Bubbles? Are you referring to boron clouding? I found a note from you in
the archives about this glaze (Will Edward's Clear 6 ox) mentioning that.
Every once in a while I get some bubbles. They don't bother me, but then I
am a beginner and don't know what glazes "should" look like. Actually I kind
of like them. My drawings look like botanical prints, and the occasional
clouding makes them not so perfect. Does the clouding in any way effect the
durability of the glaze? I've had a plate with this glaze on it in the
dishwasher for 1 year. No changes to color or surface so far.

Two years ago I was crying because some work I had sold was crazing. Thanks
to you and many others, I just did a six day show with confidence -- knowing
that I had tested and tested.

Will Edward's Clear 6 ox
whiting 12.50
epk 12.50
neph sy 20.00
frit 3134 25.00
silica 30.00

Thanks to you all,

Hi Carol,

Not so bad - only a week behind.

If you look at the glaze with a magnifying glass you will see the bubbles
that cause clouding - not a problem if you like em.

Just adding EPK 1.0 at a time will actually lower expansion.

I was thinking you might want to have your recipe total 100 in the end -
it's simple to do - divide each amount by the total and multiply by each
answer 100 - then round off each amount - not important. I have done a
couple for you - adding EPK and taking out some Neph Sy to keep it all
even - expansion is decreasing so crazing will not be a problem.

RR revision #1

whiting 12.5
epk 14.5
neph sy 18.0
frit 3134 25.0
silica 30.0
Total - 100.0

RR revision #2

whiting 12.5
epk 15.5
neph sy 17.0
frit 3134 25.0
silica 30.0
Total - 100.0

RR revision #3

whiting 12.5
epk 17.5
neph sy 15.0
frit 3134 25.0
silica 30.0
Total - 100.0

If you are still getting "bleeding" keep doing the same thing.
