mason stain and reinforcing molds

Hi all..Im a newbe to this .My question is ...Im working on an architectu=
ral
ceramic application the look is to be similar to ruins on old buildings=
in
Europe..I want to use stain to get the old stone look.. What should i mi=
x
with the ( mason)stain so it will not be powdery ( firing to cone 5) AN=
Y
advice GREATLY appricated!

another question: I made molds of an urn and made them too thin ... what=
can
i do to add more plaster to reinforce them ?

Hi, Bev.
First question
add the mason stain to an engobe or a base glaze with the surface you want. 10-20%
depending on the depth of color and the individual stain's intensity.
Second question: sounds like you're talking about remaking the molds.
To reinforce molds you can apply strips of cloth or even get the cast material
bandages of gauze nd plaster.
I have used cloth strips of an inch or two in width as reinforcing large shape.
