Helllo all,
I am an avid lurker and have gained tons of useful info here on Clayart. =
Over the past few years, we have been buying "stuff" from potters who =
are giving up the trade or just cleaning up their studios. I was looking =
through an old box and found 1 pound of Lead Chromate from AArdvark (it =
was stamped on the bag) and am wondering what to do with it. I just =
reviewed the archives on Lead Chromate and found all the strong warnings =
about it's toxicity and will be extremely careful in using it. I just =
built a raku kiln and am looking for some good raku glazes and think =
this may be a component in some.=20
Does anyone here know this chemical/component or a glaze that uses it? =

Personally, I'd check to see if there is a hazardous material collection
center in your area and donate your lead chromate to them.
You can find more raku glazes recipes that you could ever make use of at
http://www.dinoclay.com/info/glazes/degraku.html. No recipes in this list
use lead.

Hehe, the guy at AArdvark suggested the same thing. After more research and
consideration, I think that would be wise.
Thank you VERY much for the glaze link. It is a wealth of info. I want to
have a raku party on new years eve and dont want to poison any one.

Hello; after seeing a person with advanced lead poisoning. I don't use or
recommend anyone use lead. I would dispose of this at the nearest deposal
site.
