Terra sigilata means sealed earth. applied to bone dry pots, this thinned =
and refined slip can be an attractive alternative to glazes ranging from =
cone 04 to 6. It can also be an effective flashing slip in atmospheric =
firings. In this workshop, Beth will teach participants how to make and =
apply the material and will explore different decorative techniques. =
Participants will be asked to bring a few bone dry tiles or simple clay =
forms to work on with the tierra sigillata.
Beth Kendall is a studio artist working and living in Northern Virginia. =
She has been working in clay for 11 years and has conducted workshops on =
throwing and glazing techniques throughout the Greater Washington DC area. =
