I am firing stoneware mugs that are flat on the bottom. I glazed the =
sides down to the bottom, and then used a scrubbie to clean any overlap =
off the bottom. Will I be ok sitting this on kilnwashed shelf?

Dear Sammy,

Yes, however I only use Batwash in Wood Kilns. In Electric Kilns I dust
the shelves with straight Alumina Hydrate through a small coarse sieve,
level it with an old hacksaw blade and wipe the edges. After firing I
tip it onto newspaper and put it back into the bucket I keep it in,
ready for re-sieving next firing. This has the advantage that you can
flip shelves on a regular basis to help keep 'em flat.
