I would like to avoid building a new spray booth in my newly relocated
studio and thought of switching from the cup sprayer I have used for years
to a HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray system. Has anyone used it in
ceramic applications? Since the manufactures claim it applies 95% of the
spray medium to the material being sprayed, would I still need a spray
booth?

Dawn,
Yes you still need one. I have a Campbell- Hausfield 4 psi HVLP sprayer and
I can't see how it is any different than my other one- that is a Binks
higher pressure one. There is a lot of overspray which hits the collector
plate installed in the back of the spray booth and drips down into a
collection gutter.
