Alisa, try putting the pin in straight up and down, instead of sideways or
at an angle. The hooked end of the pin can catch the element. I know those
little pins want to slide out easily!

Dear Clayrart,
I made the pin and set it in the brick where the element was out of the=20
ridge in the brick. I let the hook of the pin catch the element and pushed=
=20
it gently back into the brick. It is not hanging, just lose, so I did not=
=20
heat it. The pin went easily in but would not stay in. It sat very=20
loosely in the hole bored by the just pressing in the kanthal pin. It was=
=20
not fast enough to hold the element in place. Just the tension in the=20
element caused the pin to go lout again. I tried pushing the pin in at=20
slightly more than 45 degrees. It is holding, but still very loosely. I=20
am hoping it will just hold if not disturbed. If I keep trying, I will=20
make so many holes, there will be little left for the pin to grab on to.

So, not really sure I fixed it.
