hello,
tomorrow i`ll be leaving for budapest, hungary to
visit my mom who is ill. i am going to miss clayart.
like most of us who are traveling, for a moment i
thought to ask you guys: what to see there, is there a
ceramic exhibit???
well, i am sure there is and hopefully i am going to
see it. i do have clay friends there and they will
know. they are not on clayart because they dont have a
computer. i met few of them after reading about them
in a book "earthen wonders".
( btw, they didnt get paid for their pictures in the
book, but they got paid if they sold the piece itself,
i am sure they even got a better price for a "famous"
pot...)
vince`s post made me thinking about this. if a
photografer is published, we see the work itself.
if a poem or a novel is published, we (the readers)
got the actual work in it`s final form.
on the other hand, if the image of a pot or a
sculpture is published, that is not THE WORK itself,
we still have the piece... and can sell it... after
all, only the image of our work got published.
of course i could be wrong, and i dont want to argue
with david, but is`nt it like we see in the papers all
the photos of the "men in black" movie, so we get
interested enough to buy the ticket to see the actual
movie. did the actors get paid for every single pic
which advertised the movie, or they got paid for the
movie itself???
well, i`d better go and pack for my trip after i
signed off clayart...
i will miss reading your discussions, take care,
arrivederci :-)
marta
