Hi folks,
It's been a bit of a break, but I'm getting back into pottery and
picking up on Clayart again too. Some new discussions I see. A bit of
spice too, but as potters, you gotta handle the heat:)
My question (hey Nils or Don?)...
I'm back to firing my OFT (as described in Nils book, much like the MFT,
just smaller) but I am not satisfied with the temp differences in a fast
firing (5 hrs). It's cooler on top and near the floor and flue. Does
anyone have any experience or suggestions on evening out the temp...
besides extending the firing to 8 or 10 hours? I've tried redirecting
the flame with bricks as well as adjusting the angle of the torch
entering the kiln (straight to 45' up). I'm also thinking of moving one
burner port to the top corner from the bottom corner.
Gotta give it a try as I like the shorter firings.
thanks muchly
Don Jung
