I just got a pair of gas welding safety glasses because I was concerned about
safety as I am firing more often. I had to a welding supplier, as Home Depot
only stocked the arc welding glasses. They may carry them, but none of the
stores in my area had any. The gas welding glasses should be in the $10.00
range. They are plastic, so you don't want to get too close to the peep hole.

Subject: Looking at cones

I would like to make a couple of suggestions for looking at cones inside the
kiln. The first would be to wear a good pair of colored safety glasses
(shade 2.5 or better) to block the harmful wavelengths of light.
