I was wondering if anyone had information about publishing a book with
respect to good publishing companies (any names and addresses would be
appreciated), what to look out for, do's and don'ts, etc. I'm inquiring
because I plan on writing a book on single firing one day.

Thank you.

Tony, we really need another book on this important subject. Go at it.
Fran Tristram's is very good, but there must be other experiences and points
of view.

Consider doing the book yourself.
That may sound harsh, but the reality is that publishers are not interested
in books with a small print run.

On the other hand, you can master all that is necessary to create the book
in MS Publisher or a similar program and then present that to the printer.
You remain the publisher.

Printing a small number is easy enough in your own office or studio, but
only if you want it only in black and white. I do 100 run at a time for my
wife's books and several magazines. They are all black and white, with a
coloured cover. Cost is reasonable, but the printing is by photo copier from
a 1440 dpi master. The real printers can cut down that photocopying cost.

The main cost is in your time writing the book. Just add the
editing/publishing via one of the very good programs. Give the disc to the
printer and only pay printing costs. Publisher's aren't going to like this
posting at all!

Martin, I have often considered this for various ventures. Would you mind
telling us what it costs per copy when you do the 100 runs you described?

Thanks
Cindi
