Hi-
Seems I am super paranoid about cracks in my ware, so thought I'd ask for
advice since I'm doing more altering these days... I have heard suggestions
on paper clay, but not tried it. I couldn't remember the specifics of a tip
I read about how to speed up the tearing-tiny-bits-of-paper phase of making
it. A blender or coffee grinder or something?
I usually dry my ware pretty slow and also use wax resist painted over
joins to equalize moisture (works well if you haven't tried it), but have
found it necessary at times to get that work dry a bit faster!! (Also
living in very humid SC at the coast so that complicates things). Really
wanting to stick to white stoneware and porcelain, so changing bodies isn't
the answer. Found a crack in a piece the other day and just tried to
burnish it out the best I could... will probably reform, oh well. I know
there's no perfect solution, but any tips might help us all.
Thanks, Camille
