Dear Klyf Brown,

You say <bands.>>

Am I missing something here? This seems to suggest the thee clay is =
returning to its original length or shape when you take you hands away =
from it as you are throwing or shaping. If this is the case the clay is =
"Elastic" and not "Plastic". In which case it would seem that your =
additions of grog or sand are acting as brakes to this return movement, =
imposing some friction into the Adobe.=20

Any other comments on "Elastic" Clay??

Best regards,

Ivor,
You are right, I used the wrong word, elastic would be more like
what the Adobe acts like. You pull up a wall and it wants to jump
back down on the wheel. I guess it could also be called "memory".
The high crackage rate is probably due to being overly plastic, though.

It's probably due to the alkalie found in some areas - the clay gets
deflocced and has a strage feel to it - rubber is a tempting term to use.
