Thank you, Susan, for this terrific website. Just points up once again =
how much fantastic, exquisite work is out there ..... work to inspire.. =
done by creative, imaginative potters with an obviously well developed =
work ethic. I didn't have time to explore the textiles, weaving and =
glass areas, but I've marked the site and will re-visit often ...=20
This site and Hank's new one, also marked, are wonderful rewards for =
continuing to work in spite of occasional frustrations.... it's apparent =
that the work represented on these pages did not "evolve" from the =
ether. You don't get there from here solely by following a map ... =
plodding along ... or on some days even skipping as we admire the =
scenery ... we must mark our trek step by step, leaving tracks for =
others to follow. Once in a while fate may smile upon us and a much =
better pot than we'd anticipated emerges from the fire ..... those I =
don't sell or give away .... they help Me inspire Me with hope that I =
can do it again...... only better.
I'm so glad that I was re-invented .... this time as a potter .... in =
spite of evidence that I'd likely not be able to make it. Bad cess on =
such evidence; it's the palpable longing emerging from some distant gene =
pool that moves us, and enables us to immerse ourselves to the point of =
no return. All clay addicts newly arrived in their Youth of Old Age =
know exactly what I mean.

You are absolutely right, Joyce.
The work out there is fabulous. Many of the shows that i do just blow me
away with the calibre of work in clay, and fiber, etc, etc.
you are right also...there is no map, not really a thought of creative
evolving....but from each pot comes the next and an idea for the next. and
it becomes a wellspring of creativity. And then one puts it all together in
a knock-out booth arrangement and lo a behold, a collection emerges and
bares the artist's soul.
I too am happy to be healthy and making pots. I would not have chosen
another life.
all of us here on clayart, the artists, the chemists, the grand technicians,
ceramic "engineers"...are all united deep down by our love for clay. And
what a cool group we are!!!!now aren/t we?
