I'm re-posting this because I've had so many requests for
information, AND because my computer has been so erratic
I don't know who gets private posts I send and who doesn't.
(A peculiar school server problem, it turns out, and not my own
pc). They're fixing it. They say.
WHAT: Workshop on creating hand-built (not thrown) sinks,
tiles, extruded table legs, and other architectural work.
PRESENTER: Linda Blossom
WHEN: Friday and Saturday, February 8 and 9, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
WHERE: Paris Junior College, Paris, TX. Art Department/Annex 3
Students are having a covered-dish lunch Friday. There'll be coffee
and juice and muffins, mornings.
There are three spaces left. Email me off-list (I get in-coming mail,
just don't know where out-going ends up).
regards

Just a public thank-you for Linda's workshop. She did a
great job, provided stories and laughter, and left us with
some interesting stuff to fire/finish. I DID have to send her
out of the room, finally, because after supper of the final
workshop day she was in there smoothing edges and
fine-tuning and fretting. I had to SWEAR not to fire anything
with raggedy edges. And I won't. Every little nubbin will
be removed before- hand, Linda. Don' worry, don' worry -
you can trust me. Mostly.
We have a tile surround for something as yet undecided
(Marcia Selsor brought some wonderful books, to inspire
everyone. Most everyone made little attachments for the
surround, so it turned out partially a group project. )
Plus, we have a table top and a sink. We'll see what comes
forth from the kiln.
Thanks to all, and it was a pleasure to meet folks from all
around. From Montana to South Texas, and points between-
a goodly group.

Just another voice to chime in here:
Thanks to Linda for such a fantastic workshop! I had previously taken a
workshop from Peter King, and wasn't sure how much overlap there would be,
but they work very differently. There was so much to be learned that the
info and ideas still keep running through my mind faster than I can write
them down. I have spent most of my waking moments, since returning,
accumulating materials, including the great bat system! I smiled when Dannon
mentioned that Linda returned to the studio to continue to work. I really
enjoyed her 'perfectionism' ... it showed in the work and the workshop. She
was very generous!
Thanks, also, to Dannon for offering the workshop (this was definitely the
bargain of the decade), and her students for the great lunch on Friday! It
was nice to put faces with some of the Clayarters names. And no, I am not
from Dallas, but really enjoyed the company of the Dallas Crowd, as well as
all the others! Thanks to Marcia for the info on Italy ... reservations made
and passports applied for. David, I am certain to have many extruder
questions to ask, but I will check the archives first.
All in all, it was definitely worth the 10+ hour car trip each way, and I got
to listen to the unabridged version of Lord Of the Rings.

Paulette Carr

Thanks Paulette,
It was really so nice that you were there. I was humbled that you would
drive so far for the workshop and was so happy that you joined us for dinner
that last day. I really enjoyed the entire visit. Those Texas ladies are
something else!

Just one more voice to say the workshop was wonderful! Linda was great,
I learned a lot and the food on Friday was superb (especially the
enchildas!). The trip to the hardware store was even interesting.

Greetings y'all,
I have been getting a good response from my posting of the workshop with =
Linda Blossom, but I want to make it clear that this is a =
SATURDAY/SUNDAY workshop, and not Friday/Saturday. The dates are =
September 21 and 22, 2002.
To reiterate: Linda will teach her method of tile making, as well as =
how to make a handbuilt sink and the surround for the sink. It should =
be quite an interesting workshop! The images of Linda's work that I =
have seen are absolutely faboo, and you can see them at =
http://www.nottinghamarts.org/Resident%20Artists/Blossom/newwork.html=20
Cost for the workshop is $85 plus $15 for lunches if you don't bring =
your own. Seating is limited. A deposit of $40 is required to hold your =
space and balance is due on September 1. =20
Send check to:

or call 336-644-2768 for credit card registration. :)
THIS EVENT IS NOT SPONSORED BY THE CAROLINA CLAY GUILD. It is sponsored =
only by Living Tree Studios in Summerfield, NC. That's near Greensboro.
Closest motels are at the Greensboro airport. Motel6, Super8, Red Roof, =
Best Western, TraveLodge and Marriott are all at the airport exit, I-40 =
at NC68. LMK if you have any other questions I didn't remember to cover =
here. :)
Thanks

Linda does a great informative workshop! If you are interested in tiles
and handbuilding sinks, you'll get a lot out of this one.
Best regards,

Greetings Clay Fans! =20
Our very own Linda Blossom will be in Summerfield, NC (that's near =
Greensboro) on September 21 and 22 to teach a Sink and Tile making =

http://www.nottinghamarts.org/Resident%20Artists/Blossom/newwork.html =
to see it. :) =20
Linda will cover basics of tile making, how to make a sink, how to make =
surrounds, how to make tiles stay on the wall! Come on out and enjoy =
two days in the country with us.
Cost is $85 plus lunches if you want 'em. Fortunately, we have just had =
2 new restaurants open in the area, so that's not mandatory. :) Email =
me at lpskeen@living-tree.net if you want more information or to =
register. :)
