Can you tell us how and why, Craig? What will it do that EPK can't?

It is very funny I use English kaolin CC31 it is very white kaolin. I
wait to the ship that will arrive from the USA to bring me the 2 or 3
sacks of EPK for my raku claybody.( Could be a boat!)
So, domestic is point of geographic!
The English kaolin are whiter( so they say)

Hello Ned:
Grolleg is almost totally devoid of titanium so it's really nice if you
need clay in a blue celadon. My other celadons that are lime green and
opaque green really benefit from Grolleg in that the green is a tiny bit
towards blue and they are just nicer and softer.
The best thing potters can do is test all sorts of clays in their glazes
and see what the results are. Then, when you find something that you
really like you can run the recipe thru a glaze calc program and see where
you are in the range of balanced glass if function is a concern. I've made
some shinos that I really like with Helmer Kaolin in lieu of EPK and Ball
clays.
I have a magnesia satin matt that I've used at cone 10 ox and reduction for
probably 15 or so years. I've used both EPK and Tile 6 kaolins for the
clay content. I tested Grolleg and Kaopaue 20 which are both very white
and it's better. The difference is subtle but discernable, and I think
that subtle things and nuances are what make our work nicer,
so.................
Hopefully this is some sort of an answer to your question.
