Hello everyone,

I want to tell you all that I have registered Tony's wood/salt firing
workshop! I am so excited about it.

I want to have a special kaolin for this workshop.
I heard Helmer kaolin or D'arvor kaolin would give nice orange flashing
effects in wood firing. I found an American supply store which carries the
Helmer kaolin, but it may cause a problem at the Canadian border because it
is white powder.

I wonder if anyone knows about Canadian supply store which carries these
kaolins.
Could you please help me?

Thank you,
Mitsuru Cope

Dear Mitsuru: Welcome aboard. the course had a waiting list after only 3
days of being posted. the pamplets aren't out yet.
I had Tuckers pottery supply in Toronto make up my wood/salt body using
Helmar clay. You can order it from them or if you wish they sell the Helmar
in dry form if you mix your own. the body is called clen helm. tuckers makes
great clay but their marketing could use some work. Like calling the clay
Tony's Flash, Tony's hot body, or Tony's Nice Ash, but no they called it
clen Helm- get it??? the clay works great for salt or wood. I'll send you
a list of slips if you like.
got great glazes and slips at Sheridan. We'll have them ready for you.
sounds like Ruthanne Tudball from England will be visting us on the course.
Make good pots and we'll deliver the great firings.
Cheers,
tony
