brake dancing, not! was angle grinder

Safety is a serious business. It happened along time ago when I was =
working construction when a "hippy longhair" worker was on the floor =
pushing on a huge power drill to make holes in angle iron when he turned =
his head to the side for a second, his long locks got caught in the =
drill chuck. You can imagine that it looked like he was "brake dancing" =
when that drill got a hold of him. The hard hat did no good. The drill =
ripped a whole patch of hair from his scalp. So protect yourself, hair, =
fingers, eyes. The unexpected does happen!

A good reminder for those out there with long hair...
and remember that a ponytail is NOT sufficient if
there's any chance it will still fall across your
shoulder while working. It may seem out of the way,
but turn your head and see how far it goes, preferably
before you find out like Dale's friend, above! And
even if it seems out of the way in normal grinding
position, do you ever pick up the tool while the disk
is still spinning? (Bet you do!)

(With a 3-foot ponytail that never sees the light of
day around power tools...and no hair-related injuries
yet.)
