getting candle wax off of pots

updated sun 10 feb 02

Leslie St. Clair on fri 8 feb 02

I am in a show of dinnerware where the tables were
decorated with burning candles. Of course candle wax
got all over my pots. Any ideas how to remove this? I
planned to take these pots directly to another show so
I can't refire in the kiln or use the freezer.
Help!

If you have access to a microwave, that can do the trick.
Good luck, Polly Coe

Leslie - try rubbing an ice cube (from the concession of the show you're in
) on the wax and/or pot----it should then just pop off if you can get
your fingernail under it. Maybe.

Leslie,

Put a hand towel in your sink to protect the
plumbing, then wash the pots with very hot water.
This should be safe for any fired finish.

Wash them with really hot water. It worked for my candle holders. Rikki

Soak them in boiling water, in a deep dish to let the lighter in weight
paraffin flow above.
If you are not sure about the glaze stability, warm the wares with the
water.
