I did try the waterfall brown on a cylinder I laying around.
I poured the inside and it came out beautiful, lots of colors.
the outside, I spraryed and didn't get it think enough, so it
was plain ugly brown. I hadn't sprayed it too thick because of the
cautions in the book about the glaze running....
Yes, it does seem like getting application the correct thickness
seems to be very important in getting the best results.
I didn't test variegated blue....
I tried:
waterfall
caribean green blue - I think I liked this one the best!
light stormy blue
bright sky blue
spearmint -this one was extra pretty also
oatmeal
some I tested on tiles and some on some junk bowls I had laying around.
On the bowls, I poured the insides, double coating one half, and
then I sprayed the outsides.
On everything I sprayed, I had it too thin.....
On everything I poured, the single layer turned out the best,
where they were too thick, they weren't as pretty.
This weekend I'm going to mix up 10lbs each and dip some test bowls,
I feel quite sure I'll get better thicknesses.
I also was sure and did their "cooling process" as best I could (I use gas)
I let the kiln drop quickly to 1025 degrees C and then
it took two hours to drop down to 800 degrees. I may try and do it even
slower next time. I was kind of scared that I would end up with a runny
mess
but nothing seemed to run.
hope this helps,
Connie
