"I'm no expert but I did sleep at the Holiday Inn
last night....."
Jeff, Mark, Vince, Snail, others....
To focus what I think the real issue is I thought I'd
write this up:
Quality is something that is good for comparing apples
to apples but not so good for apples to oranges.
I have reason to believe that TRUE HVLP can/should/might
be superior to the compressor variety pseudo hvlp guns because:.
> Larger Nozzle (0.70") (less likely to clog? and perhaps
more tolerant of glaze add ins)
> Slower velocity at the nozzle to the piece being sprayed
> Less overspray, less bounce back, less into the air to
breath
and less air pressure to perturb the wet glaze.
> No complications from compressors
- oil specs (i had these once or twice)
- moisture from pressure changes
(Not to mention that the danged thing about the price of a stuck
relief
valve on my noisy compressor to start with.)
That's why I find this product really interesting. It just might be
a superior tool for much less. I did build my first computer back
in 1976. I'm right once in awhile. Anyway, the thing is ordered.
It cost me $84.94 with $10 extra for UPS & 5.95 or something for
S&H. I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I checked inventory
the other day and today - availability dropped from 450 to 400
today - so about 25 per day going out.
I appreciate the sage advice to buy quality tools. But this ain't
about quality as much as about technology. To me it's more like
the folks on this list that discovered that Intel had a great
magnifying
device for cheap. Nobody said it was a great micro-scope! But it
was a wonderful opportunity to have a "near scientific" tool for
just
a few bucks. You have to give them credit for thinking "outside the
pot".
