Vince -
In a post earlier this month you wrote "For an
effective demo of flocculation in claybodies, just mix
ten pounds or so of porcelain body deflocculated with
1/4 of 1% each of soda ash and sodium silicate."
In a related post you wrote "Acidity can most easily be
introduced by adding 1/2 of 1% Epsom salts."
The principle is perfectly clear to me, but I am unsure
of how these percentages are measured out. For
instance, what is the Epsom salt a 1/2 of 1% OF? Of
the weight of something or the volume of something?
What are the soda ash and sodium silicate 1/4 of 1%
OF?
I know you've got a simple straight forward answer to
this. I'd like to hear it.
