I think its 2 carbonate to 1 oxide.

Thank you!

What is the ratio for substituting cobalt carbonate for cobalt oxide? Thanks

I was always told to use twice as much Cobalt Carbonate. This always worked.

Cobalt carb is a weaker colorant, so you use 2 of carbonate to 1 of oxide.

I use a bit more than 2 units CoO per 3 units CoCO3.

using molecular weights:
CoO is 74.93, Co is 58.93, (58.93/74.93)*100= 78.64% cobalt
per unit Cobalt Carbonate.

CoCO3 is 118.93, (58.93/118.93)*100= 49.55% cobalt per unit
of cobalt carbonate.

78.64/49.55 = 1.59 units cobalt carbonate per unit of cobalt
oxide.

This is supplied for checking, and as a geologist, boy I
will be *real* embarrassed if I screwed it up! :-)
