If you ever get invited by Dannon to do a workshop in Paris don't hesitate
to accept. Dannon was the perfect host. I am a vegetarian who prefers to
eat as healthy as possible and she did all that was humanly possible to
meet my dietary preferences. I don't think I have ever been anywhere
where the people were more friendly than in Paris, except maybe Japan.
Everyone takes the time to chat and say something pleasant. It was such a
pleasure to see David Hendley on both days. Since I dutifully went home to
think about the next day's activities, I wasn't there to see the making of
the compromising photo. I wasn't surprised however, sweet accent aside,
those ladies could be naughty in the best way. Of course, I loved drinking
a glass of wine and chatting late into the night with Marci Selsor. A
perfect roommate and good friend.

After leaving Dallas, I went on to Steamboat Springs to visit Jonathan and
Elissa Kaplan. Such a wonderful couple to visit and the guest room has its
own bathroom! The studio is quite impressive with equipment that I did my
best to comprehend and their home has much wonderful art of all kinds. A
lovely visit that I thoroughly enjoyed. I guess it never occurred to me
that the Rocky Mountains were named so because they are great piles of
rocks! I really need to get out more.

Today I finally came to an agreement on the purchase of a building for a
studio and home. It will have been a year since I left Ithaca by the time
the building is ready and I am working again. Kilns to buy and build and
supplies to be ordered. A lot of work to be done on the building as well.
(heat system, roof, kitchen) It is 3000 square foot commercial building and
has an apartment. Eventually, I would like to move into a house and will be
looking for someone to rent the apartment - hopefully an artist who wants to
use the studio and loves animals as my dogs will be coming home. If anyone
has always wanted to live and work in Ithaca consider this a chance to get
in on the ground floor! Be warned, there is a big roof to be done but it is
only one story so not so far to fall! It is good to finally feel at home
and ready to get back to work.

To the many friends who have been there by phone and email giving advice,
lending an ear, or just expressing their love and concern through the last
several months, I am greatly indebted. Their patience and concern has meant
much to me as I have struggled to put my life in Ithaca back together. It
is good to finally be home.

Even Paris, Texas, has a few vegetarians. Restaurants are a little
tricky, though.

Linda, when you're ready to build the kiln(s), you might
consider a kiln-building workshop. Good experience, and
they are almost always really enjoyable.

Glad you had a good time.

best,

Dannon
