Hi
Can anyone tell me if you can make your own ceramic burner tips for a
Apline HF 24 kiln, and if so what kind of clay would one use??
thanks

Bryan -
I can't imagine how it would be worth it to make your own. They aren't that
expensive. But a much better solution is to build a refractory collar
around the burner port (to protect the surrounding metal), and move the
burner tips OUTSIDE the kiln where they ought to be, with a normal cast iron
flame retention tip threaded on the end of the burner tube. Can't imagine
what the Alpine designers could have been thinking, cramming the burner tips
right into the firebox like that. First thing you do with an Alpine is move
those burner tips, and throw away all those diffuser grates.
Best wishes -
