The California Arts Council is circulating a petition concerning Arts
Education. Basically, it is asking that Arts Education be mandated and
funded at all school levels. If you are interested in learning more, you
can read then entire Weekly Update at the California Arts Council WWW
site: http://cac.ca.gov/load/weeknfo.htm

If you are interested in the petition, it is at
http://www.cac.ca.gov/load/ccae.cfm

The petition calls attention to several studies confirming the positive
effect that arts education has on achievement in other academic areas, and
school achievement in general.

Hi Wes,
I thought that art "was" a required subject in Ca. for admission to any
UC University. At my high school where I teach you have to have a yr. in
the Visual & Performing Arts class either ceramics, drawing or
photography. You used to be able to combine 1 sem. in either, or.But now
it is a full yr. Mike Gordon
