hey folks,
the supplier our campus bookstore used is texas art & supply. as of a
few days ago we can no longer order serrated metal ribs because they
have been discontinued. the bookstore tells me that if i can give them
a supplier we can add them to the vender list. does anyone have a
source for inexpensive ceramic supplies such as pottery tool kits, ribs,
sponges, pin tools, cut off wires and trimming tools? i order my own
stuff from continental clay and i feel their prices are good, but by the
time the bookstore gets a hold of the supplies i don't want students
paying $3.99 for a serrated rib. any advice or suggestions????

thanks in advance,

jim bob

Jim Bob, if you are in Texas and anywhere near Houston, I strongly
suggest that you check out "The Ceramic Store Inc." in the Heights on 11 th
street.
If you're further away I know that Tom (the owner) ships. I know this
because he shipped me materials when I was in Cochabamba Bolivia. I'd done a
price check with a number of East Coast ceramic supply stores, including
Miami Clay, and found that Tom was still less expensive even with the
additinional shipping cost from Houston to Miami (which is where everything
to Bolivia was shipped out of at that time.)
If you have any questions contact me off the thread

I've had really good luck and service with Bennett's
in Florida. Their prices are incredible, usually well
under manufacturer's prices (I got my Skutt kiln for
nearly $1,000.00 under list price), and have bought a
lot of other things from them too. They use an
independent shipping firm, however, so make sure that
the cost of delivery does not negate the good deal on
prices. I'm in SC, and delivery fees haven't been too
bad, but worth checking on. I don't have the number
offhand, but they advertise in CM, and probably
others. Julie
