Dear Cindy,
Just light your burner and fire your stuff !
Don't bother for the law; let the lawyers play around with their toys.

I live in a city too, but I have a garden, 6 meter wide and 20 meter =
long.
No "space" between the house on the left and the house on the right.
I never asked any permission, never had any problem.
My closest neighbours don't mind, they know what I am doing, I sometimes =
invite
them for a glass of wine when I'm rakuing.
To be honest, I ONLY fire when weather-conditions are appropriate :
only when there is little wind, when smoke goes right up, and does not=20
get "dispersed" all over the area.
I never fire on the first sunny day of the year, when everyone opens his =
windows
to wellcome the first hot sunrays, or is enjoying their first spring =
BBQ...

Last year I did an exhibition and raku demonstration in a park, in front =
of
a castle in our city.
The organisation first told me that they would contact the Fire Brigade, =
and
that a Firetruck would be present when I fired my kiln.
Later they called me back telling that the Fire brigade did not see any
problem, no intervention needed, not even surveillance. Nothing at all.
This is the situation in Belgium, Europe.
Just for your information.
Best regards
Wally
