Grog in French is 'chamotte' while in Spanish the translation is 'chamota'
Arcilla is 'arcilla de bola' and the stuff I have acquired here in Spain=20
was imported from the U.K.
Kaolin in Spanish (plenty of that here) is spelled Caol=EDn
Fran=E7oise in Spain still waiting for kiln furniture to arrive 'ma=F1ana'

Ron Duncan told us that spanish ceramics words in Latin America differ a =

from those used in Spain and much influenced by indian words, while in Sp=

they are much influenced by arabic words.
The lady from Spain, Srta. Cristina Juristo Fern=E1ndez de Madrid,
a translator, did not recommend I use "arcilla de bola" in translating my
book
to spanish. She told me to put ball clay between quotes "ball clay" even =

Ron Duncan used "arcilla de bola" in his part of the dictionary.
Now she lives in Canada (Montreal), and I will tranfer your comments to h=

to see what she has to say.

Interesting. Yesterday when I was buying materials in San José, Costa Rica,
and asked for ärcilla de bol importada" the fellow behind the counter, who
spoke no English, said "clay?"
