Dear Jane Travis=20
A description of this process is given in Glazes and Glazing Techniques =
by Greg Daly. You will require 22kt or 24 kt Gold leaf and it is applied =
to a high gloss glaze using a medium made from pine rosin and Lavender =
oil. Firing temperature is given as about 720-800 Celsius. It seems =
important to get the glaze to go slightly higher than its glass =
transition temperature, unlike Arabian lustres, where the glaze must be =
kept below that temperature, otherwise the silver and copper migrate =
into the glaze which kills the metallic iridescence.
Have fun. I have a book of leaf al ready to use.
