Wow, this got my attention. Are some members of my
family doing things I'm unaware of?

Do you mean other than naming their kids after major religious figures?

Jon,

That was a major TYPO, no? I can only excuse this faux pas by saying that
it might be caused by my making a 29" tall pot in the workshop that spawned
that post. ;) Ok, that was a brag, and the pot is ugly as hell, AND it was
made in 3 sections, but it's mine. ;) WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!
In only hope it will shrink enough to get it in my kiln.....o boy.

Speaking agnostically, but taking care to insure myself by
genuflecting discreetly in Hendley's direction : if it's as "ugly
as hell" as you say, WHY fire it at all?

Isn't that a waste of clay, time and energy? I mean, what's the point?

Even without firing it you now _know_ you can make a 29" tall pot.
You've already got the benefit it offers you - and it's the
experience, not the pot!

I'm assuming you are a professional potter. If you're not, my
question is moot. Professionals have to please others, or go out of
business. And ugly, by definition, does not please...

best

heehee....you are right, but I am going to fire the thing by golly, and put
it in my living room!
