Amy, you might want to try John Hesselberth's site listed below - I've used
the Charcoal Satin glaze listed there as a liner glaze and it looks exactly
like it's name. If it's darker than you want, try testing with less Mason
stain. There are also a number of other interesting glazes but not all are
food safe.
