For those who wanted a good clear...

Chun Clear ^6 ox
Soda Feldspar 38
Whiting 14
Zinc Oxide 12
Ball Clay 6
Flint 30
Bentonite 2
Oxidation firing. A semi-transluscent glaze turning light green around
edges. Glaze shows mini bubbles where thick.
Add 2% copper for a Fake Celedon, add 4-6% for Chun Green.

Another excellent glaze, but more opaque is this base...

VC "72" ^6 ox
Neph Sy 24
Dolomite 11
Gerst Bor 12
Whiting 4
Zinc Oxide 2
EPK 7
Silica 40
Bentonite 2

For Butta Gold... add 12 Titanium... a whitish yellow with golden tones.
Peacock... add 6% copper, 1/2% cobalt carb... satin green with rich tone
(we would often have to tweak this glaze by mixing in some of the Butta Gold
to get it to be less transparent with more action.)
Apply thinly to show more texture.

My notes on Chun clear say it can run between ^5 and ^8, but I have never
tried at any cones other than 6. The Chun Clear (i hear) also works well
with mason stains as colorants.

These glazes have been utilized in beginner class situations with good
success and reliabitity.
Happy testing!
Camille

Hi Camille
Thanks ever so for the recipe. Would you advise spraying it on, dipping or painting
it on?
Rose
