I have been enjoying the Clayart thread conversations for over a year since
accidentally discovering the website. Now, I finally joined !
So, I have tried several low fire clear glazes from the archives but none
has been as good as buying the Duncan Diamond Clear to use over underglazes.
I really want to make my own, as a high school ceramics teacher on a tight
budget.
My leaf green turned olive green with one recipe, and the pink underglaze
pigskinned with blisters.
Does anyone have a good low fire clear? I like to fire a little hotter to
cone 03 for less chipping.

Hi Liz,
I teach at Foothill H.S. in Pleasanton but live in Walnut Creek and do
my shopping at Leslie's Ceramics in Berekely,Ca. on San Pablo ave. They
have a good c/o6 clear that I use over underglaze as well as adding
Cobalt carb, copper carb and both with blk. iron ox for a darker
version. Pretty versitile. I double the cost of the clay to the students
to cover glaze, tools, etc. It works. Mike Gordon
