I make hypertufa pots. Here's what you mix: 2 parts portland cement, 3
parts vermiculite or perlite, 3 parts peat moss, a handful of fibermesh
(if you wish) and water. This stuff doesn't shrink so you can cover
something, mold it on/over a cooler wrapped in plastic, whatever --
about 2 inches thick. Cure it wrapped in plastic for about a week
(misting occasionally), then let it dry for a few weeks. You can paint
on a milk/yogurt/molasses/whatever mix onto the outside to encourage
moss to grow... the stuff seems pretty freeze-proof too....
