I just found in my Garden Solutions catalog (relatively organic pest
control options) one that's new on me: they're selling kaolin, which is
to be sprayed on fruit trees. The trees look completely white with the
powder, like they're made of greenware. The idea is that egg laying
fruit pests dont like the stuff and will avoid the fruit, while the bees
crawl into just-opened blossoms and are not bothered. You just have to
wash the white stuff off the fruit when you harvest (apparently.)
I need to protect my plum tree and my cherry trees somehow from those
darn little wormies, without poison. Has anybody tried this approach? I
know diatomaceous earth kills soft-bodied bugs, but... kaolin?
Thanks in advance to gardeners/potters...
Kelly
