managing clayart e-mail

updated sun 24 mar 02

Hi Chris and Other Deletion Mavens!

This all depends on the Email program one uses. The "one finger on shift"
technique won't work, for instance, on Hotmail. Hotmail lists all Email as a
list, in one's "inbox," and allows one to select the messages one wants to
delete. No fingers on shift needed for multiple selection of emails to
delete here.

Best wishes!

you can delete the whole thing at once rather than having to delete each
e-mail separately.

You don't have to delete emails one at a time. Choose the first email you
want to delete, then holding the shift key, choose the last email you want
to delete. It selects all the ones in between. Delete.

If you sign up for the digest form you will only get one e-mail a day =
with all the messages and it is easy to scroll through and read only =
what interests you. Also, you can delete the whole thing at once rather =
than having to delete each e-mail separately. I find this makes it =
manageable. You can also sign up for no mail and just go into the Yahoo =
groups site and read the messages that are of interest to you. You don't =
have to leave the group you just have to change the way the messages are =
delivered. Good luck.

I use the Index form of the list, which has the same benefits as the Digest
form, described below. I am very happy with it. Since I have not seen the
Index form described in the list directions that are posted periodically,
maybe someone could describe the differences between it and the Digest form.
(I tried the Digest form twice and had two different experiences, so am not
sure what happened.)

I find it much more convenient to deal with the day's messages as a group
than to deal with individual messages. Any I want to save, I send as
messages to myself, which go into a pottery folder. Then I can delete the
whole thing when I'm ready to.

Also, can you prevent a sent message from being posted? I just sent an
unfinished one by accident.

I=B4m using the digest form for almost two months and you never know if y=

I don't know the answer to your problem. But I do know that the digest form
did not work properly with my first e-mail program, so one of the list
managers suggested I try the Index form. I did, and I have been happy with
it ever since. The Index is not talked about much, but it is an option on
the subscription section of the main Clayart page. If nothing else works,
you might give it a try.

Jorge- My last post wasn't quite right. To try the Index form don't click
on Main Clayart Page at the bottom of posts. That takes you to the archives
(or it does me, anyway). Click on www.ceramics.org.clayart, which goes to
the ACERS Clayart page and allows you to change subscription settings.
