Tony,

Can you elaborate on this a bit? I have never heard of pulling anything on
a bisque form.

Thanks

My assignment at Sheridan for 7 weeks(two days a week) is to teach t-pots. I
take my hat off to Bruce Cochrane for thinking enough about the teapot to
give it it's own quarter semester. At first I think the students thought
how boring 7 weeks of one form. tommorrow I start week #4 and they haven't
made one yet. they have made dozens of different kinds of lids (THAT FIT),
spouts thrown, slab and rolled like doobies, slab and pulled off bisque
forms, rolled with a piece of dowel.
We have looked at dozens of teapots- Sheridan has a great collection
including the late Ruth McKinley. bought in 1976 for $37 now worth $4000
plus.
We have tried a new tea each week for break. The pots begin tomorrow and we
will have a wood kiln full of nothing but teapots. Now that's a payload.
Just to get back to being my controversial self- I tell the students "You
aren't a potter till you can make a teapot". the hate mail begins.
Actually I just want Dawg to start making teapots. glaze them as crazy as
that Kansas city shirt I saw in the pics.
cheers,
Mr. Tea

If he is busy, I might have an idea. Remember he said that they had yet to make a
teapot. My daughter's teacher had them throw a cylinder, then after it was
bisqued, they soaked it in water for 10 minutes or so then they could use the form
to practice handles on, Pulling handles over and over on the bisque form.

Hummmmmmm.....a neat Idea. I can pull handles fine off a lug, but when I
try to pull 'em off the pot, the results suck!
