There is a product called Pour On, which is a high gloss epoxy finish
intended as a protective coating for furniture tops. I use it to coat the
inside of raku vases so they'll hold water. It not only works well in
creating a seal, but also strengthens the piece. Also good for repairs.
It's available at hardware stores.
