workshops in texas?

updated fri 7 jul 06

I was reading through my 943 e-mails today and I notice that there are a lot of workshops all over the country. However, there arn't any workshops in Texas! Does anybody know of any workshops in Texas or Oklahoma that are coming up this spring or summer?

I beginning to think that their isn't any workshops in Texas because it's too far between point A to point Z. I know I would love to take advantage of some workshops and there are quite of few more potter's in my area who would love to go to some workshops. I would appreciate any information. Thanks, Breann :>)

Check out the Craft Guild of Dallas at www.craftguildofdallas.com. Victoria
Christen will be doing a workshop April 5 through 7 (free slide show Friday
night. Y'all come!)
Piero Fenci will be there in September, and Chris Gustin in November. Most
of the community colleges locally have at least one guest artist a year, and
between Dallas and Tarrant county (Fort Worth) That adds up to a lot of
workshops. I would check with Brookhaven, Eastfield, Northlake and Cedar
Valley Colleges in Dallas, and TCJC South East in Arlington, and TCJC
Northeast in Hurst.

Brenda, there are lots of clay workshops in Texas. Many
colleges and universities have them. The Craft Guild of
Dallas has 4 or 5 well-known ceramic artists come lead
workshops every year. Their number is 972-490-0303.
Next week (April 6), I will be doing a workshop called
"Beyond Handles; Creative Extruder Ideas for Potters"
in Bryan. Call Rachel Norris for info at 979-778-1323.
I will also be doing an extruder workshop for the Texas
Potters and Sculptors Guild August 24-25, in Ft. Worth.
I don't have a phone number handy.

You might want to join the Texas Clay Arts Association.
Their newsletters always list many upcoming workshops.
See http://www.texasclay.org/
Also, Ceramics Monthly next month (April) will have their
annual listings of summer workshops, and Texas is always
represented in the listings.

There are a number of places in Texas that have workshops frequently.
The Dallas Craft Guild sponsors them, Harris County College in
Houston, Southwest Craft Center in San Antonio, a place in Fredricksburg
(forget the name) does, and there are many more. You might check
the April issue of CM, they list a huge number of workshops across
the country. Not all will be there, but a great many will. Also,
there is a summer ceramics workshop in Junction, sponsored by
Texas Tech, frequently taught by James Watkins. I've only hit
the high spots. There are a lot more to check out. Others will
no doubt mention some.
