By any chance does anybody know of a good Ceramic Supply Co. in San Antonio. I am going to San Antonio this weekend and I need to pick up some thing at a ceramic store. I don't have a place here in my area so this will be a good opportunity for me to pick up some things. I thought when I was at NCECA that I spent enough money on extras. But I am out of some chemicals for some new glazes that I pick up at NCECA. Also, I am thinking of buying a new wheel and I would like to look at some.
One of my weakness in pottery is neat tools. I love new tools and what new thing can I do to my pots with them. Usually a kitchen store is a good place except they can be little high in there prices. Really any excuse will work for me. So I appreciate anybody who can tell me where I can go in the San Antonio area. Also, I would love to go to some pottery studios if anybody has a suggestion.
Thanks, Brenda

Brenda,
I was in San Antonio last fall for a week. Suggest Clayworld for pottery
supply company, located at 1231 W. Martin St., phone 222-1331.
Be sure to visit Southwest School of Art & Craft. The ceramics studio is
located on the historic Ursuline Campus (used to be a convent), not the newer
Navarro Campus, both are located near Augusta & Navarro intersection.
Everyone in the studio was very friendly and Dennis Smith is chairman of the
ceramics department. There are two galleries, one on each campus, and a
wonderful gift shop with many different potters work on display, museum and
restaurant on the Ursuline campus.
Reyes Pottery, Jose Luis Reyes potter is located at 112 Hess St.,
phone 210-735-4096 studio or 210-734-3537 home.
Marcia Dahlman Clay Studio is located in the Blue Star Arts Complex at
1420 S. Alamo, 210-224-1915 studio or 210-824-6120 home.
Gallery Ortiz, Liza Ortiz potter in the Mexican Market on Commerce St.
Tested By Fire Pottery, Rob Grimes potter is at 9465 Huebner Rd.,
phone 558-8039 and 690-6253. This one is quite aways from the main downtown
area, but well worth the visit.
Also D. Buck Pottery located in Green, TX is a distance from San
Antonio but a very worthwhile side trip if you have a car. Those numbers are
830-629-7975 studio or 830-629-6583 home.
My travels also led me to an Antique Mall somewhere on Broadway that had a
large display of Harding Black's pottery. If you are at all interested, ask
about him at the various pottery sites you visit and maybe your curiosity
will get the best of you as mine did. I even tracked down his old studio at
8212 Broadway that is now the studio of his old apprentice, Bob Doyal.
Also New Braunfels, TX on the way to Austin has potteries.
Have a great trip,

I think Armadillo is having it's annual 20% off everything sale this
weekend.
I will be around the studio in Helotes Texas, call for directions when you
get here. The studio is a mess and the pots are still packed from the
Houston fair this past weekend, but will gladly make adjustments.
